Purvanchal Expressway is an 6-lane (3-lanes in each direction) access controlled expressway in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. The expressway will connect Ghazipur town with the state capital, Lucknow (via Azamgarh & Ayodhya). It is being developed by the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) with a project cost of ₹22,494 crore (including the land acquisition cost). The project will be executed by Gayatri Projects, Apco Infratech, GR Infraprojects, PNC Infratech and Oriental Structural Engineers. The total project has been divided in 8 packages, with Gayatri Projects, G R Infraprojects and PNC Infratech allotted 2 packages each and Apco Infratech & Oriental Structural Engineers being awarded one package each. The easy bidding process has also resulted in 10% cost reduction for the project. It will be about 340.824 km long expressway and will connect Lucknow to Ghazipur by passing through 9 districts: Lucknow, Barabanki, Amethi, Sultanpur, Ayodhya, Ambedkar Nagar, Azamgarh, Mau and will terminate in Ghazipur. The expressway is to be linked with Varanasi-Azamgarh highway through a separate link road. According to UPEIDA, Government of Uttar Pradesh, this expressway is expected to be opened to public by July 2021. As of April 2021, 90% of work has been completed. Uttar Pradesh state have highest number of Expressways in India. Yamuna Expresway, Agra-Lucknow Expressway, Purvanchal expressway, Ganga Expressway, Delhi Meerut Expressway, Gorakhpur-Varanasi Link Expressway, Delhi Dehradun Expressway, Lucknow Kanpur Expressway, Eastern Peripheral Expressway, FNG Expressway, Noida-Greater Noida Expressway.
