Urban SNAP-Ed works with limited-resource families and individuals throughout Alabama’s urban areas and offers offers free learning opportunities to groups and one-on-one sessions.
SNAP-Ed is the acronym for: Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program-Education. Urban SNAP-Ed is co-funded by Alabama Extension and the SNAP division of the Alabama Department of Human Resources under the umbrella of the Food and Nutrition Service, USDA.
Urban SNAP-Ed has a three part goal to present basic nutrition classes in an EASY
and fun format , teach participants how to select and prepare TASTY, nutritious meals at home and to provide techniques to make buying healthy foods more AFFORDABLE.
